About
BillNotch Capture is the browser companion to BillNotch — automatic time tracking that bills itself. It records the domain of your active tab (like github.com or figma.com) and how long you spent there, then sends it to your own BillNotch account so your tracked hours get sorted into the right client project automatically. If you bill by the hour, your browser is where a lot of that time actually happens — and where a manual timer fails you. This extension closes that gap with zero effort: no timer to start, no entries to write, nothing to remember. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the extension and open the popup. 2. Paste an API key from your BillNotch settings (app.billnotch.com). 3. That's it. As you work, the extension records the active tab's domain and duration, and uploads it in the background. BillNotch then uses those domains to categorize your tracked time: an afternoon on github.com and docs.acme.dev lands on the Acme project, your Figma hours land on the design engagement — reviewed and confirmed by you, invoiced from your dashboard. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT • Captures the DOMAIN only — never page content. • Full URLs and page titles are OFF by default; each is a separate opt-in toggle you control. • Data goes to your own BillNotch account, authenticated by an API key you issue and can revoke at any time. • Nothing is sold, shared, or used for advertising. Data is processed on EU servers. • Idle time is never recorded as activity — capture pauses when you step away. WHAT YOU NEED A BillNotch account (billnotch.com — 14-day free trial, no credit card). The extension works alongside the BillNotch desktop tracker for Windows, macOS, and Linux: the desktop app records what you work on, the extension adds which sites you worked in, and BillNotch turns the result into billable totals and PDF invoices. Built for freelancers, consultants, and small agencies who bill by the hour — and forget timers like everyone else. Privacy policy: https://billnotch.com/privacy Questions: [email protected]
