The Commited Octinel Chrome Widget helps individuals understand the environmental impact of their online shopping activities.

When users browse supported websites, the extension estimates the carbon footprint of the products in their cart based on Octinel’s calculation methodology and Defra standards . This provides real-time visibility into the emissions associated with potential purchases, without interrupting the shopping experience.

The extension works only on the active tab and is activated through explicit user interaction. It does not run automatically in the background, does not interfere with the checkout process, and requires no additional steps from the user .

Based on the calculated emissions, users may choose to offset their estimated carbon impact through internationally recognized, certified carbon offset projects provided via the Commited platform. Upon completion, a digital certificate is issued instantly, transparently showing the supported project .
