    description
The ExCITATION extension is a tool for academics, scientists, PhD students, and researchers overall to speed up their literature search in Google Scholar database.

    1) Journal rankings are based on publicly available data from:

    • SCImago, (n.d.). SJR — SCImago Journal & Country Rank [Portal]. Retrieved May 11, 2025, from http://www.scimagojr.com
    • Academic Journal Guide (AJG 2024), Chartered Association of Business Schools, https://charteredabs.org/
    • ABDC Journal Quality List (JQL 2022), Australian Business Deans Council, https://abdc.edu.au/

ExCITATION is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by these organizations.

SCImago Journal & Country Rank includes 34000+ journals in various disciplines from the Scopus® database (Elsevier B.V.)

    - color-coded quarters: from Q1 top 25%, to Q4 bottom 25%

    - Journal Rank indicator. It is a measure of journal's impact, influence or prestige. It expresses the average number of weighted citations received in the selected year by the documents published in the journal in the three previous years

    - publisher/journal’s country

    2) Sorting

    - Sort by SJR journal impact factor
    - Sort by most cited

Currently it sorts by citation number only within one page of search results.

    3) One-click paper abstract preview

Support us to develop further features, e.g., other journal rankings, predatory journal warnings, CSV export, sorting within more pages and much more.

    DATA ACCESS PERMISSIONS:

Why does this extension request access to all sites?
To support the abstract preview feature, the extension fetches article metadata from external websites when you click the preview icon—these can be hosted on any domain. We also query api.crossref.org to retrieve missing journal information.

If you prefer, you can limit access to just:
    https://scholar.google.com/*
    https://api.crossref.org/*

The extension will still work, but without abstract previews feature.
Trusted by 100,000+ researchers, PhD students, and academics worldwide.
