About
See every marketing tag, cookie, and consent signal on any website, the moment they fire. TagCompliance is a tag auditor for privacy, compliance and analytics teams. The live tabs run entirely in your browser, with nothing leaving your machine unless you explicitly send a recorded journey to your TagCompliance account.
WHAT YOU SEE
The side panel splits into five tabs that update in real time as the page loads.
TAGS. Every tag that fires on the current page, identified by name and vendor (1,650+ recognised), scored Low to Critical by the same engine used in our full-site web crawler. Each tag shows its account ID, category, consent requirement, hit count, and the request URL it fired. Click any tag to see piggyback detection, page-context risk modifiers, and a request-parameter dump. Search by name, vendor, category, or ID.
CONSENT. CMP detection (OneTrust, Cookiebot, Didomi, Silktide, and 40+ others), IAB TCF version, Google Consent Mode v2 state with per-category granted/denied chips, and the most important compliance signal: pre-consent violations. If any tag fired before the user interacted with the cookie banner, you see it on a red badge with the offending vendors listed.
COOKIES. First and third-party, with name, domain, party, Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite, and expiry. Cookies set for more than 13 months (the ePrivacy / CNIL guidance ceiling) are flagged amber out of the box. Filter and search included.
DATALAYER. Every push to window.dataLayer with the event name, relative timestamp ("3s ago", "2m ago"), and the full payload available as expandable JSON. Search by event name or payload key. One-click copy of the entire dataLayer state as JSON.
NETWORK DOMAINS. Every host the current page contacted, including ones we did not recognise as a known tag. Useful for spotting CDP, data-broker, or new-vendor activity that flies under the radar.
JOURNEY RECORDING
The web crawler cannot reach pages behind a login, completed checkout flows, or admin dashboards. The extension can. Click Record, walk through a real flow as the real user would, click Stop. Every tag, every cookie change, every dataLayer push is captured along the way, with per-step segmentation so you can see which tags fired on which screen.
When the journey is done, save it locally as an XLSX report (no account needed) or send it to your TagCompliance dashboard with one click. From the dashboard you can attach the journey to a full-site audit so the manually visited pages are reported alongside the automatically crawled pages in one combined output.
EXPORT
CSV export from every screen, scoped to whichever tab you are looking at. Tags only, Cookies only, DataLayer only, or all four sections in one file. Default filename is <domain>-<screen>-<date>.csv, so files drop into a folder pre-organised.
WHO IT IS FOR
Privacy and compliance teams running GDPR, ePrivacy, or CCPA reviews.
Marketing and analytics teams checking that GTM, Consent Mode v2, and the CMP are wired correctly before a release.
Agencies and consultants auditing client sites and producing client-ready evidence.
DPOs validating their own organisation's tagging without waiting on engineering to run a full crawl.
PRIVACY
This is a privacy tool, so it walks the walk. The live tabs (Tags, Cookies, Consent, DataLayer) run entirely in your browser. Nothing leaves your machine. No telemetry, no usage tracking, no analytics on the extension itself.
The journey recording feature captures network requests, cookie metadata (name and domain only, never the value), and dataLayer payloads. When you click Send to Dashboard, the recorded data is uploaded to your TagCompliance account over HTTPS. A built-in allowlist strips dataLayer values that look like personal data (email, phone, address, ID fields, date of birth, postcode, and similar) before any upload, so a customer site's PII never lands on TagCompliance servers even if the page accidentally surfaces it.

NO ACCOUNT REQUIRED
The live monitoring features (Tags, Cookies, Consent, DataLayer, CSV export, local journey reports) work without signing in. A free TagCompliance account is only needed if you want to upload a journey to the dashboard or run a full multi-page automated audit.
WORKS WITH
Any website you can open in Chrome. No SDK to install. No tag manager change required. No cooperation needed from the site you are auditing.
ABOUT TAGCOMPLIANCE
The extension is a free companion tool to the TagCompliance audit platform, which adds full-site crawling (up to 10,000 pages per audit), consent-mode validation across multiple browser sessions, piggyback chain mapping, and an executive PDF summary. Visit https://tagcompliance.com to learn more.
