Chat Lightning is a free, local-only Chrome extension that makes long ChatGPT
conversations load instantly, then adds the power-user tools ChatGPT does not
ship. 
With instant loading speeds, advanced input enhancements, and total privacy, no account, no backend, no telemetry.

PERFORMANCE
- Trim long conversations: renders only the last N messages so a 500-message
  chat opens instantly instead of freezing. Full history stays safe in
  ChatGPT; nothing is deleted.
- Turbo mode: strips code highlighting, math, and copy buttons for max speed.
- Load older messages button.
- Performance warning when messages pile up past the limit.
- Live stats in the popup: rendered vs. total and percent saved.

PROMPT ASSISTANCE
- 7 rewrite modes: Fast, Smart, Deep, Turbo, Balanced, Quality, Ultra.
- 4 quick presets: Friendly, Professional, Casual, Humorous.
- Rewrite lands in the composer for review, never auto-sent; original kept
  in prompt history.

INPUT ENHANCEMENTS
- Document upload: attach a text, code, or PDF file and its contents are
  pulled into your prompt, read locally on your device; nothing uploaded.
- URL content fetcher: paste a link, get the page text in the composer.
- Prompt history with up/down arrow recall.
- Character counter vs. the 16,500 limit.
- Expand / collapse the prompt textarea.

PER-MESSAGE TOOLS
- Copy as text and copy as HTML.
- Char / word counter under each message.
- One-click visual hide (refresh restores).

NAVIGATION & APPEARANCE
- Scroll-to-latest button.
