About

Browser Session Sync

Your browser history, owned by you. Sync, search, and restore sessions across any device using your own private GitHub repository.

Stop relying on third-party servers to store your sensitive browsing data. Browser Session Sync turns a private GitHub repository into your own personal, encrypted-by-default session cloud. Whether you’re switching from a work laptop to a home iMac or just want a "time machine" for your tabs, this extension gives you total control.

🚀 Key Features
Total Privacy: Your data never touches our servers. It goes directly from your browser to your private GitHub repo.
Active History (30 Snapshots): Keep your most recent 30 sessions (per profile) on your main timeline for instant access.

Infinite Archive: Once you exceed 30 sessions, older snapshots are automatically moved to a structured, searchable archive organized by Year and Month.

Multi-Profile Support: Give each device its own alias (e.g., "Work Laptop", "Gaming PC") and see them all in one unified timeline or filter by specific device.

Deep Search: Instantly find that one tab from three months ago by searching titles, URLs, or dates across all archived sessions.

Smart Sync: Automatically saves your session every X minutes, but only if something has actually changed.

🛠️ Quick Setup (5 Minutes)
Prepare Storage: Create a new private repository on GitHub (e.g., my-sessions).
Generate Access: Create a Fine-grained Personal Access Token (PAT) on GitHub with Read & Write access to Contents.
Install & Configure: Open the extension settings and fill in your GitHub details, your preferred Profile Name, and your desired sync interval.
Sync: Click "Update Current" to push your first session!

🔒 Security First
This extension only requires access to the GitHub API. It stores only URLs and tab titles—no page content, no passwords, and no tracking. Because you use your own GitHub Token, you can revoke access at any time.
