About

Pure Translate is a clean and focused Chrome extension for translating full web pages.

It is built for people who regularly read across languages and want a translation experience that feels calm, reliable, and unobtrusive. Open a page, choose your source and target languages, and translate the page directly on the page. Click again to restore the original.

Pure Translate is intentionally minimal. It focuses on one job: helping you read web pages in your language with as little friction as possible.

What Pure Translate does:
- Translates full web pages in place.
- Supports bilingual display or direct text replacement.
- Works with dynamic pages and modern web layouts.
- Shows a small prompt when a page appears to match your source language.
- Supports quick selection translation through a lightweight bubble.
- Lets you restore the original page at any time.

Service setup:
Pure Translate does not operate its own translation server. In settings, you connect a supported translation service using your own API key.

Your API key is stored locally in Chrome and is used only by the extension background service worker to request the translation service you selected. The settings page includes setup links for supported services.

Privacy-first by design:
When you translate a page, the text that needs translation is sent to the translation service you selected. Pure Translate does not currently operate a first-party backend, does not collect browsing history, does not collect analytics, and does not upload your API key to Folkrum.

Do not translate sensitive content unless you are comfortable sending that content to your selected translation service.
