Backtrace shows you the trail of tabs that led to the page you're on — and lets you jump straight back to any earlier step.

When you open a link in a new tab, then another, then another, it's easy to lose track of where you started. Backtrace quietly records how each tab was opened — which tab it came from — and builds that history into a simple, numbered trail. Open the Backtrace popup on any tab to see the full lineage, and click any entry to return to that tab instantly.

PRIVACY
Backtrace is designed to work locally. To show your tab trail, it stores limited navigation metadata in Chrome storage, including page URL, page title, timestamp, and parent-child tab relationships. This data stays on your device. Backtrace does not read your full Chrome browsing history, does not access pages visited before installation, does not collect page contents or form inputs, and does not send tab-trail data to us or third parties.
