About

Tab Manager for Browser gives you complete control over how your Chrome windowsn are arranged on screen. Apply split-screen grid layouts with a single click, resize any number of tabs into a pixel-perfect tiled layout, and restore your previous arrangement instantly with one-tap undo.

★ GRID LAYOUTS — INSTANT SPLIT SCREEN
Click any layout tile to split your current tab and tabs to the right into a tiled grid:
• 1×2 Side by Side — the classic dual-monitor setup
• 2×2 Quad View — four panes for power users
• 1×3 Triple — three stacked horizontally
• 2×1 Stacked — two rows, full width
• Any custom NxM grid up to 6×6

★ RATIO SPLITS — UNEQUAL WINDOWS
Not all split screens are equal. Choose a ratio split so your main content gets more space:
• 6:4 Split — main window at 60%, side at 40%
• 7:3 Split — main at 70%, reference at 30%
• 8:2 Split — primary focus at 80%
• 5:5 Equal — perfectly balanced
Apply any ratio horizontally or vertically.

★ CUSTOM LAYOUT BUILDER
Design a layout that isn't in the defaults:
• Fixed grid — enter any row × col combination (e.g. 3×4, 5×2)
• Scaled split — pick a ratio and orientation
• Live canvas preview updates as you type
• Optionally name your layout (e.g. "Coding Setup", "Research Mode")

★ DRAG-TO-REORDER LAYOUTS
Rearrange your layout tiles in any order by dragging and dropping. Your order is saved automatically so your most-used layout is always at the top.

★ ONE-CLICK UNDO
Made a mistake? Click ↩ or press Ctrl+Shift+Z to restore all tabs back to their original window, size, and position in seconds.

★ MULTI-MONITOR SUPPORT
Tab Manager automatically detects all connected displays. Choose which monitor to target — layouts will be calculated relative to that monitor's resolution and position. Perfect for dual-monitor and triple-monitor setups.

★ TAB STRIP — ALL TABS, INSTANTLY VISIBLE
The popup shows all your open tabs in a scrollable strip the moment it opens — no clicking required. The active tab is always shown first. Click any tab chip to select it as the starting point for your next layout. The favicon previews in every layout card update immediately to reflect your selection, showing exactly which tabs will fill each grid cell before you click.

★ TAB SEARCH
Filter your current open tabs instantly with the built-in search bar. Find the tab you want to split from by typing a title or URL fragment — the tab strip updates live as you type.

★ NAMED PRESETS
Save a snapshot of your current tab session as a named preset. Restore it any time to re-open all those tabs in one click. Ideal for recurring workflows like "Morning Research", "Coding Session", or "Client Review".

★ FAVICON PREVIEW IN LAYOUTS
Layout tiles show the favicons of the tabs that would occupy each grid cell, so you can preview exactly how your screen will look before clicking. Previews are populated from the first open moment — no interaction needed to see them.

★ SETTINGS & OPTIONS
• Single tab mode — resize only the active tab, leave all others untouched
• Fill empty cells — create blank new tabs for unused grid slots
• Alignment — build the grid from the left or right edge of the screen
• Keyboard shortcuts — Ctrl+Shift+1 (1×1), Ctrl+Shift+2 (1×2), Ctrl+Shift+4
(2×2), Ctrl+Shift+Z (undo) — all configurable from Chrome settings

★ PICTURE-IN-PICTURE OVERLAY

Monitor any open tab as a floating overlay on top of whatever page you are currently viewing — without splitting to a second window. Click the 📺 button on any tab chip in the popup to open a draggable, resizable PiP window showing that tab's content. Useful for watching a video, monitoring a dashboard, or keeping a reference page visible while working in the main tab. Close it any time or resize it between compact and expanded mode.

★ AUTO-SPLIT RULES

Define rules that automatically apply a layout when a specific website opens. For example: "whenever youtube.com loads, apply the 7:3 horizontal split". Rules are matched against the URL of every new page load — when a match is found, the configured layout is applied instantly without any manual action. Add, remove, and manage rules from the ⚡ panel in the popup.

★ FOCUS MODE DIM

When enabled, applying a layout dims all secondary tile windows with a semi-transparent overlay. The primary (first) window stays fully visible. Click any dimmed secondary window to remove its overlay and bring it into focus. This keeps your attention on the primary content while still allowing you to switch to any secondary tile with a single click.

★ PRIVACY FIRST

Tab Manager for Browser does not read, extract, scrape, or transmit any page content, form data, cookies, or credentials. The content script only:
(1) renders a floating iframe for the PiP feature,
(2) applies/removes a dim overlay for focus mode,
(3) sends the current page's hostname to the background to check auto-split rules — no page content is included in this message.
All data is stored exclusively on your device via chrome.storage.local.

★ 100% OFFLINE
Fully functional with no internet connection required. No accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no telemetry.
