Phase Dictate is a privacy-first, AI-powered smart dictation extension that processes everything locally on your own computer. Your words belong to you, no audio or text is ever uploaded to the cloud or shared anywhere.

It captures your speech and automatically cleans up the transcript in real time, inserting accurate punctuation, fixing typos, correcting grammatical slips, and removing filler words without losing your natural tone.

REQUIRED CHROME SETTINGS FOR LOCAL AI:
Because this extension uses Chrome's experimental on-device AI (Gemini Nano), you need to enable it in your browser settings before using Phase Dictate.

STEP 1: ENABLE THE AI FLAGS

    Open Chrome (must be version 127 or newer).

    Type chrome://flags/#prompt-api-for-gemini-nano into your URL bar, hit Enter, and set it to Enabled.

    Type chrome://flags/#optimization-guide-on-device-model into your URL bar, hit Enter, and set it to Enabled BypassPerfRequirement.

    Click the Relaunch button at the bottom of the screen to restart Chrome.

STEP 2: DOWNLOAD THE LOCAL AI MODEL

    After Chrome restarts, type chrome://components/ into your URL bar and hit Enter.
    Scroll down to find Optimization Guide On Device Model.
    Click the Check for update button next to it.

Wait for it to download (the status will change to "Up-to-date"). Note: The model is large, so this may take a few minutes depending on your connection.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
Because the AI runs 100% locally on your machine, your computer must have at least 22 GB of free storage space and a GPU with at least 4 GB of VRAM. Supported operating systems include Windows, macOS, and Linux.
