About

Mindful Screen Time adds a gentle pause before you open the sites that pull you in, and shows you — right there on the page — how your time is actually being
  spent.

No login. No account. No data leaves your browser.

  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

A mindful pause, not a block

When you visit a site you've added to your list, a full-page overlay appears with:
  • Today's timeline across every site you're watching
  • How many times you've already opened it, and how many times you chose to skip
  • Your time on site today, and your average per visit
  • A 7-day chart of opens vs. skips

  Two choices:
→ Skip it, I'm good — goes back. A small celebration confirms the win.
→ Continue anyway — dismisses the overlay for that tab. No guilt, no friction.

Because the pause shows you the data before you decide, you make the call with full context instead of on autopilot.

  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

  Accurate time tracking

  • Time only counts when the tab is focused and you're actively using the browser — idle time (60+ seconds) is excluded automatically.
  • Background tabs don't inflate your totals.
  • Visits are recorded as real start/end intervals, not hour buckets, so a 9-minute visit looks like 9 minutes.
  • Daily rollover at midnight, automatically.

  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

  Today's stats, one click away

Click the extension icon for a quick popup of today's top sites and total screen time — no overlay, no interruption.

  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

  Your data stays yours

Everything is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's standard storage API. Nothing is sent to a server. Nothing is shared. Nothing is sold. There is no
analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixel. If you uninstall the extension, all data is gone.

  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

  How to use

  1. Click the extension icon → Manage mindful sites.
  2. Add the domains you want a pause for — twitter.com, youtube.com, reddit.com, whatever pulls you in.
  3. Next time you visit one of those sites, the mindful overlay appears.
  4. Skip, or continue — your call.

  ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

  Permissions, in plain English

  • Access all sites — required so the overlay can appear on any site you choose to add.
  • Storage — saves your settings and daily stats locally in your browser.
  • Tabs — detects which site is currently active so the timer stays accurate.
  • Idle — pauses the timer when you step away from the keyboard.
  • Alarms — runs a periodic save and the midnight rollover.

This extension does not read page content, does not inject scripts beyond the overlay on your listed sites, and does not collect browsing history.
