No servers. No database. No accounts. No cloud sync. No data collection. Nothing to breach.

Your vault is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, one of the strongest encryption standards available. The encryption key is derived from your password using PBKDF2 with a random salt and 310,000 iterations — making brute-force attacks computationally infeasible. The key never leaves your device.

Your vault is stored in the browser's local extension storage. It never leaves your browser. We have no way to access your data because we never receive it.

Your vault file is fully portable. If Briefed disappeared tomorrow, your file would still decrypt and work. You own it completely.

IMPORTANT: There is no password recovery — by design. If you lose your password, your vault contents cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Store your password somewhere safe.

Is my data really private?
Yes, completely. Your vault is encrypted on your device and never leaves it. Briefed has no servers, no database, no accounts. If Briefed disappeared tomorrow, your vault file would still decrypt and work. We have no way to access your data because we never receive it.

What if I forget my password?
There is no password recovery — by design. Your vault is encrypted and the key is derived from your password. We never receive it, store it, or have any way to recover it. Do not lose your password.
