About
Turn every new tab into a news digest that's actually about you. POV News reads the day's stories and scores each one against a point of view you define — who you are, the topics you care about, and the angle you read from. Instead of a generic feed optimized for clicks, you get a short, ranked digest where every item carries a one-line "why this matters to you." Bring your own Cursor API key. There's no backend and no account — research runs on Cursor Cloud Agents using your key, and everything else stays in your browser. — WHY POV NEWS — Most feeds rank for engagement. POV News ranks for relevance to you. You tell it your role and your topic "pillars," and every candidate story is scored against that lens, then summarized with a take on why it's worth your time. — FEATURES — • Scored to your point of view — Define your role and 4–6 topic pillars. Every item is ranked against them, not against generic virality. High-signal items rise; noise drops. • No backend, your keys — Research runs on Cursor Cloud Agents with your own API key. There are no servers to send your data to, because there are none. • Learns from a thumbs-up — Rate items good or bad. Your feedback becomes pro/anti examples that sharpen the next digest. • A calm three-pane reader — Sources, scored items, and a reader pane. Familiar muscle memory, a smarter data model. • Watch the agent work — See discovery, scoring, and writing happen live, and review every past run with its full activity and the digest it produced. • Fast keyboard control — Like (T), dislike (X), dismiss (D), archive (A), mark read (R), open (O), and arrow-key navigation. • Runs on a schedule — A fresh digest is ready each morning; refresh manually any time. • Pick your model — Choose the Cursor cloud model that scores your digest, defaulting to the fast, cost-efficient Composer. — HOW IT WORKS — A short, four-step setup builds your point of view the first time you open a new tab (about 3 minutes): 1. About you — Who you are and what you want news about, in a few sentences. 2. Pillars — An agent suggests 4–6 topic pillars from your description. Edit or accept. 3. Sources — Pick a preset bundle or paste your own RSS / site URLs. 4. Calibration — Rate a handful of sample items so the scorer learns your taste. After that, each run discovers fresh articles from your sources, scores them against your POV, and writes the digest straight to your new tab. — PRIVACY — POV News is local-first and has no backend: • Your POV, digests, ratings, and history live in your browser's local storage. • Your Cursor API key never leaves your browser except in the calls you make to Cursor. • Article discovery fetches public RSS feeds and article pages directly from your browser. • No analytics, no tracking. Free and open source (MIT). You pay only your own Cursor API usage. Privacy policy: https://povnews.app/privacy-policy Source & changelog: https://github.com/maribol/povnews.app
